Smart Grid
The smart grid is an umbrella term encompassing a wide range of emerging information-based products and services that will bring the digital revolution into the operation of our electric grid, as well as into our homes and businesses. The smart grid holds the potential to replace energy consumption with intelligence. Smart grid technologies are available now and can enable better energy management and lower customer energy bills. It will enable customers and their buildings to quickly, even automatically, respond to changes in price. New third-party services are emerging to allow even residential customers to effortlessly outsource energy management tasks. These services will allow customers to “set it and forget it.”
Good Company lead the legislative campaign to encourage adoption of advanced meter-data networks, and the regulatory intervention to assure those networks take the data into the customer premise directly. We have worked with a coalition of smart meter companies, and with other related technology and services companies. We have done market research on emerging products and services for investors, and helped utilities evaluate technologies and services. We performed market research on emerging demand-response markets in North America for major retailers, and we have been intimately involved with evolution of demand response in the Texas market.
